Huahai Yang is a database systems architect and entrepreneur based in Silicon Valley. He is the creator of Datalevin, an open-source Datalog-powered database that unifies relational, graph, logical, document, and vector paradigms on top of a high-performance key-value store. His work focuses on building practical, high-performance data systems, including innovations in query optimization, transaction management, and hybrid search.

Beyond databases, Huahai is the founder of Agenwiz Inc., where he is developing an autonomous AI assistant platform that emphasizes human-like persistent memory, security, and real-world task execution. His broader interests span intelligent data infrastructure, agentic AI systems, and the intersection of research and product, with a consistent focus on translating advanced ideas into impactful and deployable systems.

He also co-founded Juji, Inc. where he led development of an award-winning AI agent platform that seamlessly integrates generative AI and traditional AI approaches to achieve market-leading capabilities in grounding and control of conversational agents.

Prior to joining the startup world, Huahai pioneered a machine learning based psychometric inference approach at IBM Almaden Research Center, where he was research staff member. His research contributions span a wide spectrum of fields including HCI, UX, InfoVis, VR, NLP, IR, ML, and DB, with more than 40 peer-reviewed academic papers and 9 granted patents.

Huahai started his career as a faculty member at University at Albany, SUNY.
